Santa Monica Pier, CA.
Well let me just say WOW!
Never been to such a bright and well lit beautiful array of wonderful pink flowers and spawny clusters of Pokemon Go hunting wildlife!
From the minute I pulled up to the Santa Monica Pier I knew it was going to be a epic Hot Spot, there were so many people and the Pier is a huge attraction even for the non Pokemon Go players. It looked like a good first date location!
I arrived at about 11:30pm and the lure's were bright and oh so beautiful, I couldn't wait to get down there and start hunting. The pier is huge with all kinds of restaurants and rides litterally above the water. I was very hungry so I was wanting something to eat but the Pokemon were popping up so quickly and vastily it took me about 45 minutes to walk about a half mile because I was too busy catching on the way.
This is what it looked like when I first pulled up and parked
The Pokemon that spawned here were of course the more common ones you can see almost anywhere including Ryhorn, Sandshrew, Magnemite, Goldeen, Magikarp, Mankey, Growlithe, Cubone and a few others. The best rare that popped up while I was there between 11:30pm to about 1:00am I happened to run into a Dragonite. After talking with a couple people I met when catching the Dragonite they told me there are quite a few rares that spawn in that area, Dragonite, Areodactyl, Lapras, Victreebell, Snorlax.
Aside from the Dragonite it was a wonderful time of hunting in Pokemon Go, there were endless amounts of Pokemon spawning from left to right and everywhere you look.
You could spend hours upon hours here or even days if your looking to make an out of state trip to California for Pokemon Go hunting then Santa Monica Pier is a must hunt location, you could spend a couple days here and not get bored at all. In fact I am thinking of doing it before the next event just to see how many rares will spawn in a full day.
As I said I was hungry and first walking down the pier I was about to stop at the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant but I thought twice about it and I knew I had a lot of hunting to do so sitting in the restaurant wasn't going to cut it for me. So I stopped off at Beach Burger and got some chili cheese fries which actually turned out to be very good.
Beside the good food, rides and awesome Pokemon Go Hunting, Santa Monica had a lot more to offer. I seen quite a few tents on the beach and plenty of people out there hanging out and having a good time, it is a very good spot to spend a few days and see how moany of those Pokemon Go Rare Pokemon you could rack up on. I would say to come on the next event hosted by Niantic but it's unclear yet whether or not rare Pokemon spawn rates are lessened during an event because of the candy increase. I am going to test this on the upcoming thanksgiving event, I just have to decide which location to do it at first.
